The venture commenced in March 2014 when Hope Church (Blackwood and Kirkmuirhill) (Free Church of Scotland) was established with around 130 members meeting weekly in the Community Wing of the Blackwood Primary School whilst seeking alternative premises or land to develop the concept of a Community Church project.
During 2015 research demonstrated that there were gaps in local community services and activities, resulting in the establishment of a separate, faith based, Hope Hub charity with a Board of 7 Trustees, as a vehicle to deliver a new expression of a Community Facility Church.
The charity`s constitution includes advancement of citizenship, community wellbeing, relief of poverty, and encouragement to all statutory, 3rd sector organisations, community groups and members of the rural communities to use the proposed new facility.
On 9th September 2016 the Hope Hub acquired the former Blackwood Care Home, 183A Carlisle Road, Kirkmuirhill and now own the building and grounds as an asset. Refurbishment plans are being developed to fulfil the concept of the Community Facility Church project.
